We are in Kerkrade, few minutes away from Maastricht, in the heart of Limburg Region. Cube Design Museum, is the first Dutch museum entirely dedicated to design. An innovative place able to inspire experts and curious in the field through works and creations of regional and international artists.

This interactive environment offers to the visitor the possibility to participate to multidisciplinary labs, during which you can get in touch with new business realities aimed to produce design products: “what counts in this world – according to Cube – are products that were developed to fulfil a human need or a necessity that could not be ignored”. Large spaces and dedicated services are organized to make the production process a true experience, to live and observe to fully understand its dynamics.
Within the initiative called Cube in Residence Programme students, young designers and alumni can work together in three different Cube design labs. Teams, made of people with various nationalities and working background, apply principles of design thinking, co-creation and co-design. They find solutions to issues or challenges of modern society, by realizing products or services based on the request from society, social organizations or specific interested parties.

21 projects came out from this creative lab, have been shown in a dedicated exposition called Out of the Lab, and here PlayWood insert itself. An exposition, well-finished to the smallest details: concepts, ideas and prototypes which answer to different social issues, from food waste to care for dementia patients. Nadine Vroomen, responsible designer of the exposition setup tells that “PlayWood connectors are a quick and economic way to create a temporary exhibition. Practical and easy to use, they let us furnish on the basis of our needs”. Design, modularity, assembly ease and aesthetics let them create in a short time an exposition structure able to enhance the projects. A practical solution, but conceptually in line with the show message. A dynamic and innovative context, which opted for PlayWood to furnish entire spaces and to create an homogenous environment for the visitor.
